Friends request prayer for twelve Christian converts facing charges of “propagation of the religions that are in conflict and against Islam” and “collaborating with foreign governments.” The evidence submitted consisted of Bibles and Christian books, the claim that they had participated in Christian training abroad and that they professed the Christian faith.
The twelve converts were among twenty arrested by intelligence agents in Nowshahr and Chalus over the Christmas period in 2023. The twelve were summoned to appear in Branch 102 of the 2nd Criminal Court Nowshahr on 26 November.
Three of the converts, Jahangir Alikhani Kaskak, Morteza (Hamed) Malamiri, and Gholam Eshaghi Nimvari, were released on bail on 17 November after their re-arrest by agents of the Revolutionary Guard in September.
Another of the converts, Javad Amini, remains detained after being re-arrested on 17 November.
Prayer Points
Please pray that:
- The Lord strengthens and encourages the converts and their families.
- The Lord gives wisdom to them and their defence counsel as they respond to the allegations against them.
- The court will acquit them of any supposed criminal activity when the charges are clearly related to their faith and its peaceful expression.
