Prayer is requested for Iranian Christian prisoner Ebrahim Firouzi, after authorities refused to allow him to visit his dying mother. Kobra Kamrani passed away yesterday (3 December).
Ebrahim, a Christian convert, has been held in detention since 2013. He was originally sentenced to one year in prison on charges related to his Christian activity, then was retried and sentenced to an additional five years in prison for “actions against national security, being present at an illegal gathering and collusion with foreign entities.” He was also sentenced to a further two years internal exile in the remote town of Sarbaz following the prison sentence. He is presently being held in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj.
Ebrahim’s mother had been suffering from cancer and appealed several times to the courts for her son to be allowed to visit her on compassionate grounds as she was too sick to go to the prison. Unfortunately, Iranian officials refused to allow such a visit.
Please pray for Ebrahim and his brother and sister. The funeral for his mother was held earlier today (4 December), before Ebrahim had an opportunity to apply for permission to attend.
Prayer Points:
Prayer is requested that:
- Ebrahim and his family will know God’s closeness and compassion at this time of grief
- Ebrahim will be released from prison soon
- Prison authorities will show more compassion towards those in detention, including Christian converts
